sew + tell: allie’s lisette b6169 moto jacket

A few years back, the Lisette for Butterick B6169 moto jacket pattern made its debut, and it quickly became a fan favorite. Allie Jackson decided to sew her own version of this stylish piece, and she's here to share her experience with us. We’re thrilled to have her join us today, Allie! ![Lisette for Butterick B6169 moto jacket](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/7cfedfd298eba8e08185d0f818bd68ab.jpeg) Allie’s online presence can be found across various platforms including her blog, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter. Let’s dive into the details of her awesome project. **Name:** Allie Jackson **Where can we find you on the internet?** Blog, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter **Project Details:** **Link to your project:** [Brunch in Boucle](#) **Pattern used:** Lisette for Butterick B6169 **Fabric used:** Off-White and Gold Oscar de la Renta Boucle from Mood Fabrics **Did the fabric work well?** Absolutely! This fabric was the star of the show. I paired it with the Lisette pattern for quite some time before finally getting around to sewing it. Handling boucle can be tricky, so I stabilized it by quilting it to muslin for added structure. As a result, my jacket ended up having three layers—boucle, muslin interlining, and a bemberg rayon lining. I love how the edgy moto design contrasts with the sophisticated cream boucle—it’s such a unique combination. I imagine it would look equally stunning in black wool. ![Lisette for Butterick 6169 moto jacket](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/48af86bb6bec78278128745620b788d5.jpeg) **How did the sewing process go?** To make this jacket truly my own, I modified the pattern to include a ruffle or peplum on the sides and back. You can check out my blog for more details on the adjustments. Once I finalized my new pattern pieces and prepared the quilted fabric, the actual sewing was a breeze. The instructions were clear and produced professional results. One tweak I made was switching to a bagged lining technique. It’s a method I recently learned and absolutely adore. **What was the best part?** There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of wearing something you made yourself. My new jacket turned heads, and when a friend asked if I was wearing anything handmade that day, I proudly told her I’d crafted my entire outfit—including the pants, cami, and jacket. One of my favorite aspects of this project was how seamlessly the back facing matched the front facing. Those little details make all the difference!
