Hello friends!
I'm absolutely thrilled to finally share with you our expanded size range for the Liesl + Co. Gelato Blouse + Dress pattern!
This new size range starts at 16 and goes all the way up to 30. If you're interested in learning more about how we developed these new sizes and how they differ from our previous 0-20 range, I encourage you to check out that post I shared earlier.
The first pattern we're introducing in this new size category is the Gelato Blouse + Dress. We launched the 0-20 version just a few weeks ago, and now we're excited to bring it to an even wider audience. The dress features a gentle A-line silhouette that's neither too flared nor too straight. It fits snugly across the shoulders for a sleek, polished look while still offering enough room in the body to keep you comfortable, even on the hottest days. The charming double-welt pockets at the front add a playful touch and provide a handy spot to stash your hands, keys, or anything else you might need.
For those who prefer the blouse option, it comes with a delightful peplum detail and a button-up back. Now, here's something interesting about the blouse—those buttons aren't strictly functional. They're more of a stylish design element that adds a subtle touch of elegance.
In this pattern, I've included two sleeve options: a classic short sleeve and a three-quarter sleeve with a ruffled edge for a bit of flair. These sleeves are completely interchangeable, giving you the flexibility to customize your garment however you'd like. And remember, as with all our patterns, we provide detailed instructions for making a full bust adjustment. While I try to offer pieces for various cup sizes whenever possible, we also guide you step-by-step on how to make this alteration yourself. Trust me, it's simpler than you might think.
Let me also point out that you're not limited to just one style. Feel free to get creative and mix-and-match elements between the blouse and the dress. For instance, you can take the back button placket from the blouse and apply it to the dress, or swap the sleeves between the two styles. There are countless possibilities to explore, and I'll be sharing even more ideas during our upcoming sew-along next week. Join us as we dive deeper into fabric choices, styling tips, and customization techniques!
Speaking of fabric, the Gelato pattern works beautifully with a variety of light-to-medium weight woven materials such as quilting cotton, chambray, voile, lawn, shirting fabrics, poplin, broadcloth, linen, rayon, silk shantung or dupioni, wool suiting, and lightweight jacquard. The examples shown here were crafted using Japanese double gauze, generously provided by our friends at Nunoya.
