Why does fluorite glow?

In ancient India, people found a cobra on a small hill, and they all turned around a stone. This peculiar sight has aroused the interest of all, and people are scrambling to explore the mysteries. Later, I realized that the stone that turned around the snake was a fluorite. Every night, the fluorite bursts with blue light, attracting a lot of phototaxis insects flying above the stones. The worms attract the frogs to prey, and the cobras are gathered to catch the frogs. So people called this stone "the snake eye", which is what we call fluorite. So why does fluorite glow?

The reason why fluorite can emit light is because its internal electrons are stimulated by the outside world, and the energy is changed from low to high. When the external stimulus stops, the energy of the electron slowly decreases, and this process will illuminate.

Fluorite comes from volcanic magma. During the magma cooling process, the gas aqueous solution separated by the magma contains many substances, mainly fluorine. During the process of the solution rising along the crack, the temperature decreases, the pressure decreases, and the fluorine in the gas aqueous solution The ions combine with the calcium ions in the surrounding rock to form calcium fluoride, which is cooled and crystallized to obtain fluorite.

Calcium fluoride crystals are originally colorless and transparent. The crystal structure of fluorite has a "cavity" and is easily filled with other ions, so in nature, colorless and transparent pure fluorite is extremely rare. This structural defect also makes fluorite a color-rich stone. Because it contains iron, magnesium, copper and other ions, green, purple, yellow, blue, brown, orange, pink... fluorite can display almost any color. If you put these colors together, it will be more beautiful than the rainbow, so many people call fluorite a "rainbow gem".
