Mexico Reduces Chinese Made Shoes and Durable Wealth into General Tariffs

Chinese footwear, including ready-made garments, as well as other Chinese consumer and durable goods, will be reduced to general tariffs from December 12, 2012.

The Mexican footwear associations have repeatedly called on the government in the last two years to continue to take measures to prevent Chinese products from dumping at low prices. Since April 1993, China's footwear has been subject to anti-dumping duties, and as of October 15, 2008, it has been changed to a higher tariff in the transitional period than anti-dumping duties, and will be lifted until December 12, 2011. Tariffs, Mexico's footwear industry was protected by the government for 19 years, but during this period, the industry did not seem to have made significant progress.

The reason for this case is that Mexico has lifted anti-dumping duties on 935 products in mainland China since October 15, 2008. It includes bicycles, bicycles and tires, shoes and parts, padlocks, baby carriages, door handles, iron fittings, and disposables. Lighters, Fluorspar, Furazolidone, Hand Tools, Textiles, Toys, Pencils, Motor Products and Parts, Parathion Methyl, Organic Chemicals, Ceramic Plates and Related Items, Iron Valves , 324 items were immediately reduced to general tariffs, and the remaining 204 items were divided into four additional years of transitional tariffs. In particular, footwear and garment industry have repeatedly requested to extend the period of excessively high tariffs, but Cesar Hernandez, director of foreign trade of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Mexico, explicitly stated in the first half of December 2011 that it is impossible to extend.
